The Return of the New 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser

Don’t call it a comeback! The triumphant return of the Toyota Land Cruiser was to be expected. After a heartbreaking pause in 2021 when Toyota discontinued the legendary Land Cruiser, it has now returned for 2024. With 65 years of heritage carrying this nameplate, you can’t simply erase that kind of legacy.

The Land Cruiser earned its place as an off-road icon through decades of conquering the most brutal terrain on the planet. The all-new model maintains ties to its off-roading roots while adding some modern flair. It has a slightly smaller shape than previous generations to better accommodate both off-road adventurers and every day on-road drivers. The biggest change is the introduction of a cutting-edge hybrid EV powertrain. But more on that later!

We at Marshall Dry Ridge Toyota are thrilled to welcome the 2024 Land Cruiser to our lineup. As your local Toyota dealer near Dry Ridge, KY, we are your source for all things Land Cruiser. Before visiting our showroom, browse our online research hub to learn everything you need to know about buying a vehicle with us.

As for this guide, it will explore what makes the new Land Cruiser so special. We’ll review the impressive specs, color options, interior, and available trim levels. Let’s get rolling!

2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Specs

The 2024 Land Cruiser continues to drive like a nimble truck thanks to a full-time 4-wheel-drive system distributing power to both axles. An electronically controlled 2-speed transfer case lets you optimize torque for different surfaces.

The headline feature, however, is the new i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain, which aligns with Toyota’s Beyond Zero vision. It combines a twin-turbo V6 and hybrid components to generate 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. And with an EPA-estimated 23 mpg combined rating, you can cover more ground than ever.

Three distinct drive modes allow instant optimization of driving dynamics with the push of a button. Sport Mode unleashes your wild side with sharper, snappier acceleration. Eco Mode adjusts the throttle for maximum fuel efficiency. And Normal Mode strikes a perfect balance between performance and economy.

Multi-Terrain Select with Crawl Control automatically modulates the throttle and brakes for ultimate off-road control. Just focus on steering and let the Land Cruiser do the rest! And if you need to power your campsite, the handy onboard 2400W inverter has your back.

Step inside the 2024 Land Cruiser and prepare to be impressed. This unique vehicle combines off-road capability with luxury appointments.

Let’s start with the tech because there’s a lot to get excited about. Front and center is the huge 12.3-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen. You can even activate the voice recognition system hands-free with a casual “Hey Toyota” to access features and keep your eyes on the road. The integrated backup camera provides added visibility.

For the ultimate aural experience, upgrade to the JBL Premium Audio system. It features 14 speakers strategically placed throughout the cabin, including a booming subwoofer, so you’ll be enveloped in rich, concert-quality sound.

Next, the available Head-Up Display projects need-to-know information directly in your line of sight. And Qi wireless charging keeps devices powered up, with multiple USB-C ports available.

On the comfort front, upgrade to leather-trimmed heated and ventilated front seats. The 60/40 split folding rear seats increase versatility. The available center console cool box even keeps drinks chilled on long days behind the wheel.

Trim Levels of the All-New 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser

  • Land Cruiser 1958
    Land Cruiser 1958

The 1958 is a nod to the original FJ25 Land Cruiser introduced in, you guessed it, 1958. The new trim level brings modern technology to the classic design. That means it retains the earliest Cruisers’ round headlights and fabric seats. Despite its old-school vibe, the 1958 doesn’t skimp on creature comforts and connectivity.

The 8-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. The 2400W power inverter lets passengers plug in and charge up their devices.

Creature comforts include heated front seats, steering wheel, and shift lever. The Smart Key System works on all doors and the liftgate. It also comes with Push-Button Start and remote keyless entry. An auto-dimming rearview mirror and rain-sensing variable intermittent wipers complete the offering.

The 1958 trim has 18-inch dark gray wheels and the same capable iFORCE MAX hybrid powertrain as the other trims, with 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. That means strong acceleration and towing ability when needed.

    Standout Features

    • Three-zone automatic climate control: Allows rear passengers to dial in their preferred temperature
    • Toyota Safety Sense 3.0: This is Toyota’s flagship safety suite. It includes pre-collision warning and braking, lane departure alerts, road sign assist, and more.
    • Integrated backup camera: A Display projects the path of travel on the screen to make parking and maneuvering easier
  • Land Cruiser
    Land Cruiser

For most buyers, the well-equipped Land Cruiser trim hits the sweet spot between features, luxury, and value. Building on the 1958, it adds the latest tech and most in-demand upgrades. The first thing you’ll notice is the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen display. The added screen real estate is well worth it.

You get a Multi-Terrain Monitor (MTM) for tackling tough off-road terrain with selectable drive modes for Auto, Dirt, Sand, Mud, Rock, and Deep Snow.

After adventures, the SofTex leatherette seating is easier to clean than the fabric. Driver memory is here to help adjust the power tilt/telescoping steering wheel and 8-way power seat. Other highlights include illuminated entry lighting, rectangular LED headlights, power open/close rear liftgate, and all-weather floor liners and cargo mats.

The Land Cruiser trim also opens up more customization options. It comes standard on 18-inch gray wheels but is the only trim that offers a 20-inch wheel upgrade for added style and presence.

    Standout Features

    • Roof rails: Additional storage space for cargo carriers when venturing outdoors
    • Heated and ventilated front seats: Keep driver and passenger comfortable in any weather
  • First Edition
    First Edition

The First Edition trim lives up to its name by adding almost every luxury and technology feature available to the Land Cruiser lineup. It builds on the well-equipped Land Cruiser trim and takes refinement to another level.

Serious off-roaders will appreciate the rock rails and 3/4-length roof rack to protect against damage and tote all your gear, respectively. Upgraded engine and transmission skid plates provide an extra layer of defense against the elements. With special badging, the First Edition makes a bold visual statement wherever it goes.

The First Edition’s circular LED headlights tie back to Land Cruiser heritage while the matte black 18-inch wheels and upgraded bash plates signal this SUV’s adventure intentions.

Inside, leather-trimmed seats feature unique First Edition embroidery. A 14-speaker JBL sound system provides a concert-like audio experience. The 12.3-inch touchscreen is augmented by a Head-up Display that projects key driving information right onto the windshield.

Adding to the technology is the capability of using a digital key via smartphone to unlock/start the cruiser. You also get wireless device charging and a cooled console box to keep snacks and drinks chilled on the go.

    Standout Features

    • Digital Key capability: Securely lock, unlock, and start your Land Cruiser with your smartphone.
    • Wireless charging pad: Keeps phones powered up without cables
    • Cooled console box: Keeps drinks and snacks chilled for on-the-go refreshment
